Are you and your spouse running out of things to do this Winter? Send him a sexy text and tell him you are planning something special with one of these Date Night In Ideas for Winter!
I don’t like to leave the house once the snow starts falling and the temps reach single digits. It has to be a real good reason to get me to go anywhere other than the school, work, and the grocery store.
That means my husband and I enjoy a lot of date nights in during winter. I always look forward to them. So does my husband, who is a homebody pretty much anytime anyways.
Date Night In Ideas for Winter to Warm Things Up
Movie Night In
Movie Night is probably my favorite date night in no matter what season it is! There is always something new to watch and plenty of old favorites to fall back on thanks to streaming.
Pick up your favorite movie theater candies and favorite beverages. Curl up on the couch or in your bed with a great rom-com or holiday movies on Netflix. If you need some quick ideas, our go-to movies are The Breakfast Club, Sweet Home Alabama, Four Christmases, and Draft Day.
Adult Coloring Books
If you are looking for a quiet relaxing date night in, adult coloring books are it. Grab the colored pencils and adult coloring pages, and let the stress of the week wash away while you and your spouse fill in the designs.
A little back ground music and some snacks make this night complete. You could even swap halfway through and complete each other’s coloring pages.
Get Your Paint On
Not a fan of coloring? Maybe painting is more your thing! You don’t need an instructor to make something neat thanks to Pinterest and YouTube.
All you need are blank canvases or a wall, two paint brushes, and paint. Let your creativity run wild and see what the two of you can create, together.
Game On!
Get out the deck of cards, game board, controllers, or roll the dice and declare a game night winner! Fill a bowl with Cheesy Popcorn and blend up some margaritas to enjoy while you game.
Some of our favorites are Yahtzee, Sorry, and any kind of trivia. That reminds me, I should get a new card game for my husband’s stocking that we can play on game nights. Check out Our Favorite Card Games for Families as many of them work for couples, too!
Reconnect
Ask those silly date night questions or even pick up one of those fun relationship books and fill it out. I don’t know about you, but after four kids and countless nights of sleep deprivation, I could be reminded about the places my husband loves to visit, his favorite colors, and what movies he wishes there were sequels for.
Baking Buddies
When it’s cold outside, oven baking goodness warms the home, belly, and heart. Whip up some dessert together, like Holiday Peanut Butter Balls! The best part of this date night in is eating what you make!
Puzzle Party for 2
Lately I have been on a puzzle kick. Even bought myself a puzzle table with storage drawers so I could still do them without taking over the dining room table. A smallish puzzle would make a great date night in for winter!
You can find them at the thrift store all the time. Something with 1,000 pieces or less would be good, especially with 2 people working on it.
If you want to turn it in to a challenge, buy 2 identical puzzles of 500 pieces or less and race to the finish. Whoever puts their puzzle together the fastest has to give the other a massage!
Gingerbread House Decorating
A fun holiday activity turned date night in is Gingerbread House Decorating! We always do this with the kids but never decorate one as just adults. I’m putting this on the calendar for us to do when we are watch our annual viewing of Christmas with The Kranks!
Plan an Indoor Picnic
Pack the picnic basket and lay your favorite Christmas blanket out in the living room. Bonus if you have a fire place you can light, if not, watch a fireplace on your TV with Netflix! You could even play picnic games like checkers or BINGO, or go with Dirty Adult Charades to end the evening!
What are your favorite Date Night In Ideas for Winter?
If there is something not on the list that you and your spouse love doing at home, I’d love for you to leave a comment! I’m sure I will be running out of date night in ideas for winter myself.

Awwww man! I just saw those small cake mixes as I was leaving the grocery store earlier. I wish I had bought them now. Guess I’ll be going to the store again tomorrow!! Lol Thanks for the tips!
We love movie night and game night! We also sometimes plan out a progressive dinner of different leftovers. Ha!

My favorites are movie nights with a game together.
Curling up with a good book that has both your interests. Go to the book store or pick a book on your readers, find out what kind of stories he loves, or what his favorite things are you can normally figure out a book that fits both you and him. For us… he loves history and war stories,I love adventure and love stories. So “American sniper” is one book for him and I, and I also found “forget me not” both books have what we love. Its not always easy getting him to stop what he’s working on for us to have time together, and I am always running behind three kids and getting things ready for the next day. So when he have the time to spend with each other we grab it. Reading together is one of the most romantic date nights. I hope you try it.
One other favorite, going to our cabin, camping in the mountains with a fire in the heater, kids are fast to sleep after I read their bed time story, he sits and listens with our kids. After they are out, we curl up together and still talk about our future and what we hope to gain in the yrs ahead.
Just having time with him, is a great date night,
Oh here is a must for your nights together!….. get a blanket that’s big enough for you and him, after kids are in bed, get a cup of warm drink and sit outside with a nice fire and star gaze!!!! I love this one, our all time favorite. Hope you have a great date night in the cold nights to come….curl up with each other, love is the most warming blanket there is.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!!!!
