My kids have opened up pajamas on Christmas Eve ever since they could wear pajamas. I do that for two reasons. One, they need new pajamas for winter.
Two, I want to give them traditions to continue with their own families someday. Traditions are also why I add a little something extra to my Christmas Eve Boxes.
Create Holiday Moments
with Christmas Eve Boxes for Kids
Instead of just wrapping up pajamas, I tuck Hallmark Ornaments as well! I’ve been collecting Hallmark Ornaments for my kids since they were born.
I buy Hallmark Series ornaments up to age 5, then each year after that, the kids get to pick out one that is special to them. While they still get to do that, I also surprise them with a Hallmark Ornament on Christmas Eve! That is, after we bake Santa his cookies.
The Hallmark Ornament they open on Christmas Eve is the first ornament they get to hang on the tree the next year. Not only are Hallmark Ornaments the perfect addition to any Christmas tree or holiday decorations, but my hope is when they see their brand new ornament the following year, they will remember all those holiday moments and memories from the year before.
Plus, I try to find an ornament that says something about them for that year. A special milestone or a favorite character.
For their 2015 ornaments, I spotted the perfect Hallmark Ornaments at Walmart while shopping for my Kris Kringle ingredients. Yes, I’m already baking and yes Walmart has Hallmark ornaments!
They have a great selection of sentimental ornaments, ornaments that signify milestones, and ornaments featuring characters from Star Wars, Toy Story, Disney, and more. You can really Deck the Halls with Hallmark this season when you find the perfect Hallmark ornament for your Christmas tree, or to give as a gift to someone you love.
Now that you know where I found my awesome Christmas Ornaments, here’s how I pack my Christmas Eve Boxes to hid the surprise inside! First, I add holiday tissue paper to a square gift box. I like to get with square-shaped vs rectangle because they fit the Hallmark Ornaments better.
Next, come the Hallmark Ornament! Don’t they look so excited to be gifted this year?!
Then come the pajamas. I fold them up and tuck them around the Hallmark Ornament so it’s hidden underneath.
Finally, the lid goes on, the wrapping paper goes around (I found The Good Dinosaur wrapping paper at Walmart too!), and a Hallmark Card seals the deal!
You can find the Hallmark Hallmark Cards next to the Hallmark Ornaments at Walmart. Basically, the Hallmark Holiday Aisle at Walmart is a one-stop shop for creating holiday memories and I’m all set to do just that. Well, I will have to bake another batch of Kris Kringles before the big day arrives!
