My kids have all loved being in the kitchen since they were toddlers. Digging everything out of the fridge, playing in the cupboards, and most of all…helping mommy cook and bake. Boy do they love to be little helpers, as most kids do.
It’s pretty adorable watching them stir cookie mix, regardless of the mega mess they make. There are lots of Ways to Involve Toddlers in the Kitchen and I’m sharing some of my favorites today as part of my partnership with Leapfrog and the Leapfrog Mom Squad!
Ways to Involve Toddlers
in the Kitchen
- Designate a lower cupboard or drawer in the kitchen for toddlers. Fill it with safe kitchen tools like spoons, bowls, and extra pans you have.
- Pull up chairs to the sink and let toddlers help with dishes. My twins love to play in the bubbles and rinse, so it’s a win win for me! I guess not having a dishwasher isn’t so bad…
- Pick at least one recipe a week that toddlers can help with. Making sandwiches for lunch, pouring salad in a bowl, and even dumping dry ingredients into the bowl when baking are great options.
- Provide kitchen related toys like the Leapfrog Number Lovin’ Oven that the twins have been baking up a storm with! With all the Thanksgiving prep I’ve been doing in the kitchen, the Number Lovin’ Oven is helping keep the twins entertained, and me sane!
I love that the Leapfrog Number Lovin’ Oven isn’t just for entertainment. The twins are already trying to count, although everything is two right now, and there are so many different ways for them to learn numbers with this oven.
Not only with over 30 songs and phrases, but also with pull apart foods like pizza and bread! Clearly we need to work more on sharing since Miss Charlie likes to claim the whole loaf for herself!
It’s a ton of fun to watching my toddlers explore, learn, and play with the Leapfrog Number Lovin’ Oven, especially when it comes to flipping eggs. They will have coordination down pat thanks to this, so I’m hoping they will be serving me breakfast in bed next Mothers’ Day.
If you just fell in love, you can order the Leapfrog Number Lovin’ Oven for your toddlers! Get ready to break bread and watch their love for the kitchen grow!
