The the nut to my bolt, the hammer to my nail, the saw to my wood. A little over 20 years ago, I met the man who completed my blueprints. We attended high school together, and officially becoming friends after I jumped in his car in the drive-thru at the local burger joint. That led to hooking him up with my best friend, which didn’t work out. Shortly after, I confessed my interest in him. Fast forward to the present, and we have almost 13 years of marriage under our tool belts.
After 13 years it can be easy to focus on just the kids for holidays. Life is busy, and managing your life and family’s schedules can be complicated, but making meaningful connections at Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be. I put together a simple Valentine’s Day Gift Basket for the Handyman, the my husband is going to love! He spends his working hours building offices and office furniture for businesses and schools. If there is one thing that is guaranteed to put a smile on his face it’s tools. If that sounds like someone in your life, you’ll love this Valentine’s Day Gift Basket idea.
Valentine’s Day Gift Basket for the Handyman
A tool box, some tools, tissue paper, and an American Greetings Card are all you need for this handyman gift basket. A small sleek black toolbox really fits the Valentine’s Day mood, and is a great size for common tools. I picked up tools that I know my husband uses a lot, or often loses. Seriously though, I feel like he’s always buying more drill bits so of course I grabbed those. 😀
Hammer, nails, drill bits, gloves, level, tape measure, screw drivers, mini hacksaw, and a nuts and screws set are the other tools I grabbed. Now, you could just toss all the tools in the toolbox and hand it over to your handyman. But what fun is that? A little tissue paper makes this more than just a tool box. It makes it a surprising box of fun that I know will make my husband smile. A smile that still melts my heart after all these years.
Tuck some tissue paper in the tool box, and top it off with the perfect romantic message in a Valentine’s Day card. I found just the card I wanted for my husband at from American Greetings, who works to make the world a more thoughtful and caring place every single day. I think we could use a little more of that right now, and it still amazes me how a few simple words can hit the heart in a good way.
“When I think about what it means to be us…“
That did it for me standing in that card aisle at Walmart the other night. Since having the twins, there has been very little us time, so it was nice for a card to take me on a walk down memory lane. I hope it does the same for my husband. The only thing left for me to figure out what what to write inside the Valentine’s Day Card, but I will keep that part a secret between my husband and I. 😉
My hard-working hunky kid-at-heart husband, that helps me remember to lighten up, smile, and appreciate the simple things in life. He reminds me that I don’t have to make a gigantic deal out of holidays to show that I care, and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Showing you care and brightening someone’s day, can be as simple as wishing someone Happy Valentine’s Day with an American Greetings card.
With Valentine’s Day on a Tuesday this year, we are keeping it simple and fun in our house. A Valentine’s Day Scavenger Hunt for the kids, a yummy dinner at home, and some grown-up time for hubby and I that evening. I’m also meeting a girlfriend for Galentine’s Day Lunch. She is one of my oldest and dearest friends, and I found her a great un-romantic Valentine’s Day card from American Greetings as well. How adorable are those heart balloons?! 😀
American Greetings doesn’t only offers a way to connect with paper Valentine’s Day cards. They’ve also created a great set of Valentine’s Day Printables to help you manage your February calendar and shopping list! I love that the printable shopping list also comes with cut-off love notes. Great for tucking in lunch boxes, wallets, or tie it onto a gift.
Other Valentine’s Day printables and digital assets from American Greetings include an 8X10 Valentine’s Day frame-worthy quote and a mobile/desktop wallpaper to help us keep Valentine’s Day at the top-of-our mind. I finally switched out my boring blue standard wallpaper on my phone, and the colors make me smile every time I turn it on.
Hopefully this Valentine’s Day gift basket idea helps you keep it simple this Valentine’s Day, and still brighten the day of the handyman in your life!
