If you were to ask me what smells remind of childhood, gasoline, oil, and grilling come to mind. My dad was a car mechanic and he loved a juicy burger or steak on the grill so those smells are vivid.
I’m not a big fan of the heat the Iowa summer brings, but I love a great backyard party and the grill going. Burgers are my grilling food of choice, and my Smokey Burger Rub is how I flavor them. I’m sharing my rub recipe below, for this week’s Make it Monday!
(Today’s post is sponsored by Nebraska Furniture Mart. Any opinions are recipe are 100% my own.)
This Smokey Burger Rub is easy to mix together, and gives you a great rub for your burgers for parties, tailgating, or just because. You may even have all the seasonings you need in your cupboard to make this burger rub now.
Smokey Burger Rub
- 2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 2 Teaspoons Cumin
- 2 Teaspoons Dry Mustard
- 2 Teaspoons Dried Oregano
- 4 Teaspoons Spanish Paprika
- 2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
Mix all the seasonings together in a bowl until they are mixed well. Store the Smokey Burger Rub in a well-sealed jar, to use whenever you are grilling burgers.
When you are ready to use your rub, simply take out a scoop, place it on top of the burger, and rub it in. Cook as you normally would and enjoy the taste when you’re done.
Now you have a Smokey Burger Rub to add a nice flavor to your grilled burgers.
