Mud Pies are timeless. There will always be dirt, water, and kids being kids mixing them together. My three year old twins LOVE to playing in the dirt.
Now that the weather is warming up, they head straight for the shovels and dirt piles, get comfy cozy inside the sandbox, and color the driveway (and themselves) in chalk. Monkey Girl though, she is all about those mud pies!
My diva of a girl is also my biggest mess making dirt digging mud pie baking child of them all. If she isn’t outside getting messy, she is standing at the window calling to her shovel.
For now, her happy place is in the yard. It’s been nice the last few days, so we were outside having mud pie fun!
When is the last time you made mud pies?! All you need are a bucket, shovel, spoon, and a pan. You probably have an old pan lying around that would work perfectly, and you can also find new ones for around a $1.00.
I fill the bottom of the bucket with water and let the kids add dirt to make their mud pie mixture.
Once the mud pie mixture was ready, the twins spooned it into a cupcake tin, and added some flowers to it. Decorations are a must for the perfect mud pie.
When the mud pies were finished, we set the in the sun to dry up and enjoyed Mud Pie Parfaits! Well Mr. Oliver felt the mud pies needed one last touch so he shared his parfait.
Mud Pies and other outdoor adventures can be messy, dirty, muddy and wet, but that’s okay thanks to all® free clear detergent at Sam’s Club!

The perfect snack to go with mud pie making are those Mud Pie Parfaits I mentioned. They are easy to make and so good. I actually grabbed another while I was working on photos for this post because it made hungry. I’ll show you how to make them so you can whip them this Spring!
Mud Pie Parfait Ingredients
- Brownies (small or regular batch)
- 1 Box Instant Chocolate Pudding
- 10 Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Whipped Topping
- Small Cups
First, make the instant chocolate pudding and fold in half a container of whipped cream. Then add 3/4 of the crushed cookies to the mixture.
For these Mud Pie Parfaits I used small plastic cups and they worked perfect for cutting out the brownie for the bottom of the parfait. Once I cut the circle, I pressed it into the bottom of the cup.
Place two spoonfuls of the pudding mixture into each cup, on top of the brownie and top each cup with remaining crushed cookies.
Grab a spoon and dig into these Mud Pie Parfaits after a messy afternoon of mud pie making!
Add mud pie making and Mud Pie Parfaits to your Spring list of must dos, and don’t stress about the mess when you have all® free clear detergent on your side.
