I’ve been making changes for a more balanced and healthier life with working at home. I’m finding that part of that is getting organized.
It may seem odd that organization affects my health, but unorganized chaotic messes in my home ignite an overwhelming stress in me. That stress is affecting my health.
It’s not the explosion of toys during playtime or the homework scattered across the table. I do choose my battles wisely.
It’s the unorganized messes behind cupboard and closet doors. So, to remove some stress and feel healthier, I got my organization on!
My linen closet was in dire need of love. In its defense, it is home to towels, sheets, random bathroom necessities, and my abundance of Colgate products.
We have a small bathroom with a small medicine cabinet so the linen closet has to do double the work. Now that I’ve got the mess under control, I’m sharing my tips!
How to Organize a Linen Closet for a Healthier You!
#1 Out with the Old
Emptying everything out is the first step to organize your linen closet. You may be tempted to shift things around on the shelves as you clean and organize, but it won’t get the job done in the best way possible.
Check expiration dates on products, find lost items that got buried, and wipe the shelves down. Clean space and products that aren’t expired is a step towards a linen closet that makes for a healthier life.
#2 Container Party Time
I love containers. Maybe a bit too much, but they are helping keep the organized chaotic messes behind doors in check.
Gather up small and/or medium storage containers from around the house, or figure out how many you need and run out and buy some. I have four containers with lids that are used for first aid products, medicine, hair accessories, and all of those Colgate products.
Not only does this keep all the same products together in one place, but it also encourages everyone in the family to put things back where they got it.
Can we talk about the new Colgate Total® Daily Repair™ toothpaste really quick, because oh my awesome! The holidays are coming and I want my smile on point, and my breath ready for festive greetings. I picked some up at Walmart the other day and I’m glad I did!
New toothpaste always catches my eye when I’m buying a new toothbrush. Does that happen to you?! Colgate Total® Daily Repair™ toothpaste helps reverse early tooth and gum damage, as well as remineralizing weakened enamel and helping to prevent gingivitis. Hello holidays with whiter teeth, fresher breath, and a healthier outlook!
#3 A Healthy Shelf
No, I don’t want you to put your fruits and veggies in the linen closet. But, you deserve a shelf with the things that encourage you live a healthier lifestyle.
Vitamins and supplements, and self-care items all readily available for everyday use. Having the things the help me stay healthier, in a place I always get in, helps me be consistent.
Just telling you about how to organize a linen closet made me feel refreshed all over again. Knowing that behind that door is organization, well, it really calms my nerves. When my nerves are calm, I feel a whole lot better.
Small steps can make a big difference and all the changes I’ve been making in my life recently, have proved that to me. Even the smallest tweaks to our home, our work, and even our personal care routine can make an impact.
I have four kids to live a long life for and if an organized closet and makes me feel healthier, than I’m going to keep at it!
