We are in the thick of holiday parties and get togethers this week! I’m excited to spend time with friends and family, gobble down goodies, and see the excitement on my children’s faces.

I’m not looking forward to all the mess afterwards, but thanks to these holiday party cleaning tips it will be easier!

Holiday Party Cleaning Tips

#1 Hide the Dishes

Years ago, I was helping host a baby shower. When I got to the house, I went in a room to lay my coat down and there were laundry baskets full of dirty dishes.

I chuckled because finally I found someone else with a “party prep dirty dishes” problem like myself. Typically I’d run around like a mad woman washing, drying, and putting away every last holiday party prep dish and utensils. No dishwasher here.

Hiding those dirty dishes when you run out of time is genius! Stick them in the dishwasher if you have them or put them in laundry baskets and hid them in a room no one will use.

#2 Prepare for Messes

Whether or not kids are at a holiday party, there will be messes. Prepare for messes, like spilt wine, dropped pie, and flung across the table mashed potatoes. Make sure you have towels or paper towels on hand!

#3 Stock the Bathroom

Nine times out of ten, I forget to have clean hand towels in the bathroom. With four kids we rarely have hand towels hanging on the rack. Is it just us?

Now I have a set of hand towels that are only for holiday parties so I never have to worry. Another thing I don’t want to worry about is toilet paper. Holiday parties raise the attendance rate in the bathroom and I stock up on toilet paper beforehand!
