Thirteen years. My husband and I are celebrating our 13th wedding anniversary this year! Video game battles and skeeball at Family Fun Center was our first date. ‘Happy Together’ by The Turtles is our song. A gravel road at the top of a hill, overlooking the city is our spot. Lobsterfest at Red Lobster is our place to celebrate anniversaries. Delicious food and drinks, no cooking, no dishes, and no screaming kids. It. Was. Awesome!

That’s right, we got the love on with Lobsterfest and it was SO good. Uninterrupted conversation with the man who has your heart. You don’t get that every day when you have four kids that keep you running and exhausted all day long. Shout out to Susie, our server at the Council Bluffs, Iowa Red Lobster location because she had the perfect amount of attentiveness. Always keeping our drinks and bread basket full, yet not stopping when we were connecting over gifts so we could have some privacy.

Big gifts aren’t something we exchange, even on anniversaries. Spending time together, just the two of us, is the best gift when you have four kids. That said, my husband surprised me with a card and an upcoming weekend staycation at a local hotel for the two of us. I’m thinking a trip back to Red Lobster is in order for that weekend too, even if just for cocktails and the new Chilled Lobster and Shrimp Cocktail appetizer. Lobster and shrimp poached in-house, served over a bed of shaved ice and Red Lobster’s signature cocktail sauce. Yum!

Bananas Foster Cheesecake,

Do you still find yourself with tingles when your spouse touches you. Those little moments of hand holding over the table still warm up my blood. A little footsie under the table still makes me blush and smile. I’m not ashamed to admit that, or that I LOVE signature cocktails! 😀

Bananas Foster Cheesecake,

Signature cocktails and seasonal menu items are some of the reasons I love heading to Red Lobster to celebrate special occasions. Island Lobster Punch and Lobsterfest Fizz are the Lobsterfest cocktails available right now. If you love to cheers to a special occasion, these are perfect AND the collective Coastal glass comes free (while supplies last) with the purchase of one of the featured Lobsterfest cocktails. I do every time, and this was no different. Every time I use it I can smile over thoughts our anniversary dinner.

Cocktails often get me talkative, which meant a walk down memory lane while waiting for diner. Moving into our first apartment where I burnt our first dinner, and going to our first basketball game where I almost passed out from high seats. It felt good laughing about all those “just us” memories, before our four additions to the family. Speaking of four, there are four brand new lobster entrées available for this year’s Lobsterfest, in addition to five favorites!

You know I had to order one, and Lobsterfest Surf & Turf won me over. This flavorful combination of lobster, steak and shrimp hit the spot on seafood and proteins. My husband didn’t think I could put down a split Maine lobster tail baked with Red Lobster’s signature seafood stuffing AND a wood-grilled sirloin topped with shrimp in a lobster cream sauce. He was right, but the rest of the steak I took home was tasty out of the oven at about 10:30 that night! 😀

When you get the love on with Lobsterfest, the only way to finish is with Bananas Foster Cheesecake and two spoons! Sharing delicious desserts is pretty much written in our wedding vows. After sharing two slices of caramel cheesecake, vanilla ice cream and candied pecans with caramel and spiced rum, it was only fair that I got the last freshly sliced banana. That’s in the wedding vows too. 😉

You guys remind me of the advice my father gave me and my husband before we got married. He said, “Never forget to date your spouse.” I know raising children, working to earn a living, and maintaining a household can be stressful. My husband and I make it a point to have at least one child-free day every fortnight
