Sunday morning breakfast is a big deal in our house. Everyone heading to the kitchen, and gathering around the table. Starting the morning with food and family, and no rushing around like during the week.
Now, I’m not filling the sink with dirty dishes from a glamorous breakfast spread. I do, however, enjoy getting a bit more creative than a bowl of cereal. Like Canadian Bacon Fried Egg Bagel Sandwiches we had yesterday!
Canadian Bacon Fried Egg
Bagel Sandwiches
Ingredients
- Plain Bagels – For these breakfast sandwiches I used Lender’s® Bagels that are available in the refrigerated dairy section.
- Eggs (1 per sandwich)
- Canadian Bacon Slices (1-2 per sandwich)
- White Cheddar Cheese Slices
- Fresh Spinach
- Buttery Spread – I used Smart Balance® Buttery Spread on these bagels, that I found in the refrigerated dairy section at Walmart.
Fry the Canadian bacon in a pan according to package directions. While that is cooking, begin the eggs. Fried eggs are my second favorite way to eat eggs, only losing to hard-boiled. When it comes to breakfast sandwiches, fried eggs are the best in my opinion.
When you toss in a little diced fresh spinach and top it with a slice of white cheddar cheese, it’s even better. Once you place the cheese on to melt, drop the bagels in the toaster.
When the bagels are done toasting, it’s time to spread! You can bake, cook and spread with Smart Balance® Buttery Spread, and today we are spreading. Do you use a butter substitute for bagels?
Everything’s better on a bagel, and this buttery spread is a delicious companion. Especially when the butter substitute has no hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils. You can use it like butter, love it even more, and then top it with Canadian Bacon!
Top one half of each bagel with 1-2 slices of Canadian Bacon and a fried egg with cheese. Place the other half of the bagel on top to complete your sandwich.
Bagels for breakfast are timesaving, easy, tasty and nutritious. In less than 15 minutes you have yourself a tasty meal to start the day with these bagels sandwiches. The spinach can easily be left out to accommodate those who don’t like it.
American or Cheddar cheese can also be used, and with so many different choices to choose from, Lender’s® Bagels has something for everyone in the family so you can swap flavors on that too. So many bagel breakfast sandwich options and we haven’t even changed meat yet.
If you are not usually a fan of bagel sandwiches, my husband would tell you to give this a try. The Lender’s® Bagels are crunchy-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside, and worked perfectly for this sandwich.
I don’t think he even had his first bite down when he said: “this is so good“. That sealed the deal to adding it into the Sunday morning breakfast rotation. Bagels are kid-friendly and great for the whole family making them great as part of a better breakfast.
Next time you are at Walmart, grab everything you need to make this breakfast. You could even wrap them up in foil and toss them in the freezer to warm up on busy weekday mornings. Or wrap it in a paper towel and send hubby and the kids out the door with them.
Lender’s® Bagels are great on the go breakfast solutions, and also great for snack time at the park in the afternoon.
How do you enjoy top you Lender’s® Bagels for breakfast?

This bagel sandwich would be so delicious for breakfast. I love the flavor of Canadian bacon. We actually call it peameal bacon or back bacon here in Canada.

Canadian bacon is one of my favorite things on pizza. I have never thought to make it a meat on my bagel sandwich though. Yum!

I have always enjoyed a bagel sandwich and yours look delicious. Now I am going to need to get the supplies to make some for my husband and me. I used to do a bagel for my son with cream cheese on an onion bagel and wrap it in foil for him to take to school. This would have been a great idea for him.
Sarah says
this sounds like an awesome breakfast! You had me with canadian bacon, which is one of my favorites!
Randa says
We love bagels. This is such a great way to top them. I wonder how well these sandwiches would freeze.
Lisa Collins says
You know, I’m wondering the same thing on the freezing. I’ve frozen English muffins with egg and ham just fine so I may have to see what happens with these next time I make them!
