I know lots of kiddos, and adults, that are going to be excited about this news! Fancy Nancy is coming to Disney Junior! That’s right, Disney Junior just cut a deal with HarperCollins Children’s Books for rights to Fancy Nancy, the hugely successful book series about a plucky little girl who likes to be “fancy” in all aspects of her life.
For the sound of it, Disney Junior will be animated the series adaptation and the targeted premiere is in 2017. You can bet there is going to merchandise and more to tie in with this new show! 😉 I don’t know about you, but this is a pretty great way to mark the 10th Anniversary of Fancy Nancy this year!
“Children have been captivated by Fancy Nancy’s wit and irrepressible spirit for a decade and we are very eager to give her an even bigger stage on which to perform,” Nancy Kanter, executive vice president of original programming and general manager of Disney Junior Worldwide, said in a statement.
“We are thrilled to be collaborating with Disney Junior to bring Fancy Nancy to the small screen and to the next generation of fans,” added Susan Katz, president and publisher of HarperCollins Children’s Books. “As we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of this bestselling series, it’s exciting to see our beloved character making her TV debut.”
