My twins are at that age where Halloween costumes are still a ton of fun. They love dressing up any day of the week, but Halloween means they get a brand new costume to wear. We picked them up already and they are too darn cute. Mr. Oliver picked a dinosaur and Miss Charlie picked a unicorn. As a mom of twins, I wanted to go with a themed costume for twins, but they had other ideas. I really am totally okay with that, this year. 😀
This is the first time we’ve had a child wear a Halloween costume like this. One that they wear on their lower half, without any mask or head piece of sorts. I wondered what I could do to “decorate” their top half and it hit me. Color matching shirts and face paint!
I picked up light pink and green long sleeved shirts that were close to the colors of their costumes. Depending on Halloween weather, they will have to wear jackets but that’s pretty normal here in Iowa. 😉 I gave the face paint designs a trial run recently and am pretty pleased with out things turned out! If you want to turn your child into a dinosaur or unicorn with face paint, order Snazarro’s Non-Toxic Face Paint Kit on Amazon.com and follow the tutorials below!
Dinosaur Face Paint Tutorial
Step #1 Paint around the eyes, nose, and halfway up the forehead green.
Step #2 Paint a white horn up the middle of the forehead
Step #3 Outline in black, both the white horn and the green, as well as add some scales.
Unicorn Face Paint Tutorial
Step #1 Paint the eyes, nose, and up the forehead pink. If you don’t have pink in your kit, you can mix red and white together to make it like we did. 😉
Step #2 Paint a horn going up the middle of the forehead in yellow, or orange if your child requests like mine. Face painting allows moms and kids alike to express themselves creatively, and my strong willed daughter did just that, and it still turned out okay. 😀
Step #3 Outline in black paint, both the pink and the horn, as well as paint small white triangles for the “ears”, right above the eyebrows.
