Next to chocolate, cheese is my favorite food group. Shredded cheese, sliced cheese, hot cheese for dipping, and fried balls of cheese. Excuse me while I clean the drool off my keyboard… I’m getting cheesy today because October 15th is National Cheese Curd Day and I’m telling you all about them in this post sponsored by Culver’s! Did you know there was such a day?! The perfect day to fill your belly with Culver’s Cheese Curds and fill your brain with these Culver’s Cheese Curds fun facts! Oh, and I’ve also got a giveaway at the end for all you Curds Nerds!
Have you tried Culver’s Wisconsin Cheese Curds before? This was the first time for my husband and me, who snuck away for a little dinner date. We also ordered ButterBurgers and I wish I’d tried stacking my side of Cheese Curds on top of my burger because YUM!
There’s always next time, and it will be a family-sized order of Culver’s Cheese Curds because we both loved them. I can see why they hold such a special place in Culver’s hearts. Because of that love, they ordained October 15th National Cheese Curd Day back in 2015. A day to celebrate them in all their ooey-gooey stretchy poppable glory! Stretchy and poppable. Stretchy and poppable. Try not to sing that while you’re eating them!
Fun Facts for Culver’s Cheese Curds Nerds
to Celebrate National Cheese Curd Day
#1 Culver’s Cheese Curds are made using farm fresh dairy from Wisconsin family farms. La Grander Hillside Dairy in Stanley, Wisconsin, has been a Culver’s partner for nearly 20 years. This family owned and operated cheese manufacturing facility started as a small farmer’s co-op back in the early 1900s. The LaGrander Family bought Hillside Dairy in 1960 and their son received his cheesemaker’s license at age 15! Impressive!
#2 Culver’s Wisconsin Cheese Curds contain one of two types of fresh, cheese. Each snackable, bite-sized chunk includes white and yellow Cheddar cheese. Both equally delicious.
#3 Culver’s Cheese Curds are breaded with a signature blend of herbs and spices for a buttery crunch. I know the cheese is the best part of the curd, but the breading seals the yummy deal.
#4 Have you ever found a heart-shaped Cheese Curd in your bag? If you have, or if you do, Culver’s believes it means you’ll have good luck.
#5 In 2015, over 17.7 million orders of Culver’s Cheese Curds were served. If you laid them end-to-end that would stretch to the moon, back to Earth, then back to the moon!
#6 There is now an official Curd Nerd Mascot! Meet Curdis, an adorable curd the color of Wisconsin Cheese!
