(This post is in partnership with Air Bud Entertainment. Any opinions are 100% my own.)
The first movie my husband and I saw in theaters together was Air Bud. That was the summer of 1997. Fast forward 21 years later and we are still enjoying pawsome pups in movies but now it’s with our kids! Pup Star: World Tour is the newest addition to the franchise and the kids and I celebrated the release on Netflix by making Chinese Almond Cookies!
Chinese Almond Cookies
Baking with my kids is something I love. They giggle, smile, and make messes that I try not to stress about. We have lots of fun no matter what we are making and I hope we’re making memories they’ll hold close when they are older. Baking brings us together, especially when cookies are involved!
Speaking of cookies, these Chinese Almond Cookies are a fun way to celebrate Chinese New Year as well as “Tiny” and the other Pup Star: World Tour judges visit to China! In the new film, the action-packed spin on popular TV singing competitions goes global! The pups head to Africa, India, and beyond including Mexico where they meet “Julio”!
He’s a heartthrob who helps them discover music really is the universal language that brings us all together. Music and baking, it’s hard not to smile when either is involved and this combo makes for the perfect family movie night!
How to Make Chinese Almond Cookies
Ingredients for Chinese Almond Cookies
- 1 Cup Unsalted Butter – Softened
- 1 Egg and 1 Egg White
- 1/2 teaspoon Water
- 1 cup Sugar
- 3 Cups Flour
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Almond Extract
- 1 Cup Sliced Almonds
First, preheat the oven to 325. Then, beat egg white and water in a small bowl and set aside. Next, in a large bowl cream together butter and sugar. Add in the egg and almond extract and set the bowl aside. In another bowl mix together flour, baking soda, and salt. Combine the flour mixture with the sugar mixture until a dough forms.
Roll the dough into tablespoon size balls and place on a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Flatten each ball gently using the bottom of a cup or the ball of your hand. Place sliced almonds on top of each cookie and press them into the dough gently. Finally, brush each one with the egg white mixture.
Bake for 14-16 minutes until the edges and bottoms are golden brown. Chances are while they are baking, your kids will turn the last bits of dough into a Chinese Almond Cookie creature.
Let the Chinese Almond Cookies cool for 2 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack and try not to devour them all at once. Trust me, I had 4 and it was hard to stop!
Whether you give them some color or not, they are the perfect dessert to munch on while watching Pup Star: World Tour on Netflix! Check out the Pup Star: World Tour Trailer below as well as some woof-tastic giveaways going on for the release of the film!
Air Bud Entertainment’s PUP STAR is back, with an all-new movie that takes the popular singing dogs on a trip around the world, where Tiny and friends find fantastic new songs and meet exciting new canine singeres that prove music really is the universal language.
