Last week I told you all about the hilarious hit comedy on ABC, black-ish, and our interview with the cast and creator in LA. Did you tune in to “The Gift Of Hunger” that aired last Wednesday? A laugher and a thinker and even a bit of a motivator for me. Well, right before the interviews, we got the unbelievable opportunity to tour the set of black-ish!
I’ve been on a couple of television sets before and each one still amazes me. What they are able to do in such a small space, how real and lived in the rooms are, and how real-like the outdoor patios and settings are. Don’t get me wrong, some sets are completely real – like inside of a real house real – but the sets that aren’t, they still make you forget that you are on a set and not inside of a real house.
Dre’s shoe closet was ridiculous in an I want it kind of way.
Jack and Diane, the twins, their bedroom is exactly what I want for Slobber Monster and Monkey Girl. Maybe a different wallpaper, but I love the boy/girl decor concept. But seriously, gotta love the juice box chilling on the bookshelf.
There are little touches throughout the black-ish set that really make it feel like home. Games, real pictures of the cast both as a TV Family and from their real life. Oh, and a mess in the laundry room like many of us, myself included.
Now for the important stuff, the details about tonight’s black-ish episode that airs at 9:30 PM ET on ABC! The “Oedipal Triangle” black-ish episode brings a special guest…..Jennifer Lewis who plays Ruby, Dre’s mother.
Dre’s mother, Ruby, comes for a visit, and she smothers her pork chops with gravy, Dre with love, and would like to flat out smother Bow, who feels the same way about her. Dre tries to find a way to get the two most important women in his life to get along.
If you haven’t tuned into “black-ish” yet, you really should check out the best comedy on TV right now that stars Anthony Anderson as Andre “Dre” Johnson, Tracee Ellis Ross as Rainbow Johnson, Yara Shahidi as Zoey Johnson, Marcus Scribner as Andre Johnson, Jr., Miles Brown as Jack Johnson, Marsai Martin as Diane Johnson and special guest star, Laurence Fishburne.
