One thing I’ve come to accept over the last few years, is that my kids have a more technology driven education than I did. They are assigned Chrome Books starting in third grade, thanks to amazing funding, and have more options available when it comes to learning, than students ever had before. The same goes for learning at home. We don’t just get out pencils and notebooks. We reach for the iPads and pull up educational apps that challenge our children’s imagination and creativity, like Disney Imagicademy.

Little Man is the one that has made me get creative in my at home learning techniques. He has struggled with reading and math and doesn’t have the excitement and desire that Teen Girl has with school. I have to make it a bit more fun for him. Apps are a big part of teaching with him because he’s comfortable with technology and enjoys it. We’ve been checking out Disney’s Imagicademy this past week and he’s really getting into it! I gotta tell ya, from a parent stand point, I’m loving it as well!

You will find content that inspires a natural love of learning, and encourage kids to learn by creating, making and doing. Disney Imagicademy is the first comprehensive brand of interactive and connected early learning experiences that combines the Disney characters and stories families love. What types of Apps does Disney Imagicademy Offer?

There are 30-plus app-based experiences in Disney Imagicademy. Five of those apps are available now, as part of Mickey’s Magical Arts World, as well a companion app for parents called Disney Imagicademy Parents. The apps cover  key subject matters that are important for early childhood development, including math, creative arts, science, reading and social and emotional skills. For the 2015 Back to School season there will also be books and other physical products available.

What is Mickey’s Magical Arts World?

Mickey’s Magical Arts World is now available in the Apple App Store and is the perfect app for kids that want to explore a fully immersive world of creative arts. There are several different features of Mickey’s Magical Arts World:

  • Create your own characters that can star in animated movies, alongside beloved Disney characters like Mickey and Minnie.
  • Experiment with line, shapes and texture in Mickey’s Drawing Studio.
  • Explore storytelling, improvisation, costume design, character development and role play with Donald.
  • Consider concepts of rhythm, tempo, patterns and melodies with Mickey’s Musical Marching Band.
  • Experiment with symmetry, balance and proportion as they design buildings with Minnie.
  • Play with oodles of virtual arts and crafts with Goofy.

What features does the Disney Imagicademy Parents have?

The Disney Imagicademy Parents App is an all-new free app that is our  resource to connect with the Imagicademy community, as well gather information that can be used to engage with our children. I love the boards of filled with articles and Disney Imagicademy-inspired activities. A tool to help spark creativity and encourage imaginative learning right inside the app and at our fingertips.

“What can I do today to help my child grow?”

Disney Imagicademy Parents also serves as our portal into the children’s apps, like Mickey’s Magical Math World and Mickey’s Magical Arts World, where we can see our child’s latest creations, give them a virtual “high five”, and more. You can quickly set up an account for each child and connect them so you can follow their learning experience.

What does Little Man think of Mickey’s Magical World of Arts?

So far, he really enjoys it. He’s been building robots, practicing his math skills and even trying to teach the twins shapes. Not only is he learning, but I think he really enjoys that he teaching the twins. He’s always looking for something “big brotherly” to do with them and this is perfect.

What do I think of Disney Imagicademy Parents?

I really like the information that the Disney Imagicademy Parents App offers and am already a bit addicted to the feed of activities and articles. I’ve found lots of great ideas and crafts to make with the kids that will keep us busy for the rest of Winter and into Spring!

Where can I find the Disney Imagicademy Apps?

The Disney Imagicademy apps are available exclusively for iPad and can currently be found on Apple’s App Store in the Kids, Education and Entertainment categories. The apps are free to download and you can purchase in-app activities individually or with a bundle.

I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.
