Motherhood isn’t a road-blocker of dreams. Motherhood is an igniter of dreams, creator of dreams, and full-filler of dreams for both us, and our children.
Olympic swimmer Dana Vollmer was committed to getting back into swimming after becoming a mom, so that her baby son, Arlen, could grow up recognizing the importance of hard work and get inspired from a young age. She wanted Arlen to grow up seeing his mom achieving her dreams as a competitive swimmer, and hopefully ignite his own passions for success.
Motherhood helped fuel my desire to get back in the pool on a competitive level and my sense of determination has grown even greater since having Arlen. Being a mom definitely broadens your perspective on what’s important and what matters in life – and it has also helped me learn how to balance the needs of my beautiful baby and family, with my own personal needs and those of my career. – Dana Vollmer
Tips for Balancing Life
Having a support system can make all the difference. There is no way I would have gotten through that first year with twins, without my husband, daughter, mother, and friends.
Support, help, and encouragement from the ones we love, can often give us the last boost we need to reach the finish line. The love and encouragement from her family are what led Dana back to the pool.
Her journey to Rio is one that she will share with them, and her goal of winning gold at this year’s Olympic Games is not just her dream – it’s her family’s dream.
I truly could not have returned to competition without the support of my family. It’s their love and encouragement that led me back to the pool and it’s their faith in me that drives me each and every day. This journey to Rio is one that I share with them. – Dana Vollmer
Be A Strong Mom
No lifting weights required here. Strength comes in many forms and I think Dana Vollmer said it best when she said that “Being a strong mom means doing everything you’re capable of doing to create the best life for your child. For me I want to show how dedication, hard work, and perseverance can help my son accomplish any dream that he sets his sights on.”
When I am doing my best for my kids, I am doing my best for me. When those things align, amazing things can happen. Does that happen for you, too?
Never Lose Sight
Motherhood can consume you, the last three years with twins have shown me that in more ways than one. We can not let who we are as a person get swallowed up by being a mom. Me time, taking care of ourselves, and continuing to have dreams and set goals can help us never lose sight.
Being a mom is both challenging and rewarding in ways far beyond what I could ever have imagined. What works for me is to call on my inner strength and to make sure I never lose sight of who I am as a person – that’s how I can ensure I’m being the best mom I can be for Arlen. – Dana Vollmer
For a long time, I used every hour that I could, and then some to get things done. Trouble was, I was exhausted, my to-do list was growing, and I had no energy to focus.
When I get a good night’s sleep, I wake up ready to take on the day and actually sneak in some work before everyone else wakes up. We aren’t the only ones that need rest though.
A good night’s sleep for baby means a good night’s sleep for mommy and daddy, enabling all to wake up well rested and ready to conquer their dreams. If your little ones are still in diapers, Pampers diapers provide overnight protection that helps babies have a sound night of sleep, so they can achieve their dreams, and you can too!
Ah, yes, that is probably one of the hardest parts about becoming a parent – the sheer lack of sleep. There’s no real way to avoid it but I do think I was lucky that Arlen become such a great sleeper. With great overnight protection, Pampers diapers have always helped him get a sound night of sleep, which in my house, helps everyone achieve their dreams. – Dana Vollmer
Pampers is thrilled to partner with swimmer Dana Vollmer, for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, her first Olympic Games since giving birth to her son, Arlen, last March. Pampers knows that the big dreams of babies start with a good night’s sleep, which is why they’ve created products designed to help little ones sleep comfortably by offering overnight protection.
I am thrilled to partner with Pampers. They know that the big dreams of babies start with a good night’s sleep – and they deliver the products that allow for sound sleep by offering up to 12 hours of overnight protection. A good night’s sleep for baby means a good night’s sleep for mommy, enabling us both to wake up well rested and ready to conquer our dreams. – Dana Vollmer
