Junior High is a whole new ball game compared to back to school in elementary school. To prep for back to school with my son in elementary, we pretty much start waking up early and buy school supplies.
With my teen daughter in junior high, I’ve learned that back to school also means rearranging her bedroom, cluttering up the bathroom counters, and more. Teenagers.
If you have a teenager, boy or girl, here are some back to school tips for teens to help. This is my daughter’s last year in junior high and I’m hoping we kick things off with a fantastic start!
Back to School Tips for Teens
1) Check Phone Settings
Those notifications going off on your teen’s smartphone will cause trouble during the school year. Make sure your child double checks their phone settings and notifications and adjusts them before the first day of school. Not a bad time to set that alarm for school days now too!
2) Prep the Bathroom
My teen daughter spends more time getting her hair and makeup done in the morning than anything else. Making sure the bathroom is set up for a great morning routine and all of her must-haves are handy, helps save time on school mornings.
3) Extra Pencil or Makeup Bag
Jewelry, makeup, earbuds, and change all end up at the bottom of my daughter’s backpack. I don’t empty her backpack anymore, she does that, but she also asks “have you seen…” quite often.
Not this year though. I picked up an extra pencil bag for all of the backpacks so their little loose items can go right in there. If you have an extra makeup bag laying around that works great too!
4) Hold Off on Locker Accessories
The first year in middle school I picked up epic locker accessories. About two months into the year, my daughter ended up barely stopping at her locker.
Then she moved lockers. Then she went back to just using her backpack because of time between classes.
Basically, she is hardly ever at her locker making locker accessories useless. I’d suggest holding off on locker accessories, at least until after school starts and you know you will actually be using it.
5) Stock Up on Hand Sanitizer
This is a tip for everyone! Elementary, junior high, and high school. Back to school brings back more germs and the chance of getting sick. Stock up on Hand Sanitizer, in a variety of sizes, so all your personal hygiene bases are covered.
