Pretty much the whole pregnancy with my twins was spent feeling miserably swollen, stressed out, and a wee bit scared. Wheeling back into the delivery room I was thinking “this is really happening and I don’t think I can do it.” Nervous out of mind, I pushed two perfect babies into this world and as they were laid onto my chest, all of those fears washed away. I was left with pure love.
Messy, gooey, and sticky didn’t matter in the least. There is nothing like feeling your newborn baby’s skin against yours. Every fiber of your being swells with pure love and it explodes out of every limb wrapping your child inside of it. That skin-to-skin contact between mom and baby isn’t just amazing for us as mothers. It’s also important for baby.
I have to say from experience, it’s not just the mother’s skin. Early on, when the twins struggled with sleep, my husband would go shirtless and lay one of them on his chest. They feel asleep quickly and looked more peaceful with that skin-to-skin contact. Sometimes he would even lay one on each side of him and just their heads on his skin would soothe them.
WaterWipes has taken a look at the pure love of skin-to- skin care with the world’s leading skin to skin practitioner, Dr. Susan Ludington. They conducted a series of tests, with three new moms and their newborns, that monitored the baby’s heartbeat, temperature and breathing rate. They recorded the tests for the WaterWipes Pure Love Video and have to watch these magical connections of pure love for yourself. Cue the tissues…..
WaterWipes isn’t just spreading pure love around, they also create a chemical free baby wipe that contains only two ingredients. Those ingredients are 99.9% pure Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract. When you have little kids, you have messes. When you have messes, you need a durable and effective cleaning option, without any harmful chemicals that may be found in other baby wipes.
My last babies have quickly become toddlers, but I still cherish every snuggle, squishy hug, and kissy face attack they allow me to shower upon them. They are still making plenty of messes too. They have just advanced from poopy diapers and spit-up, onto chalky muddy hands and ice cream faces. Although now, they grab WaterWipes too and help me clean up. 😉
