Meditation has always grabbed my interest, but I’d never actually tried it. I wasn’t skeptical, just never been one to relax. That, and I’m an over-thinker, which doesn’t make it easy for the mind to slow down and be quiet. Little did I know how easy it really was to start meditating at home. I found out recently though, thanks to Iowa skipping fall altogether and heading into 40 degree temps. My weekly me time is happening at home more, and it became a great time to try out meditating. For my families sake. 😉
(I partnered with Brentwood Home for this post. Any opinions are 100% my own)
Start Meditating at Home
#1 Quiet Place
Find a quiet place in your home, and go to the same place every time you meditate. If your house is full of kiddos like mine, consider waking up before everyone else and squeezing in even 15 minutes of meditation in the morning. Trust me, I’m not a morning person, but if it is for something that makes you feel better it is worth it.
#2 Something to Sit On
Sitting on something comfortable plays a big role in productive meditation. A meditation pillow is the best option, as a great one is designed with enough height to support meditation practice, which allows the curves of the spine to fall into place for extended periods time.
The scents of a candle are soothing for the body, putting you in a great state of mind for meditation. Aromatherapeutic candles are a great option, and one I like to light up in the morning, when I sneak in my me time meditation.
That is really all you need to starting meditating at home, and the rest is left up to you and your mind. To make things easy, the Brentwood Home Holistic Wellness Bundle has everything you need, besides the quiet place, to meditate at home!
- Meditation pillow with a stretch-knit washable cover, and carrying handle so you can take it to meditation classes as well.
