All of my kids love being in the kitchen and cooking meals with family. Do yours? The twins enjoy baking cupcakes with mommy, my 11 year old son puts his creativity to work with sandwiches, and my 15 year old daughter likes to cook dinners. Me? I don’t have an ounce of culinary skills but it makes my heart happy being in the kitchen with them no matter what is being made. Blue Apron helps me make up for my lack of skills in the kitchen, and makes it easy to cook meals with family.
I first heard about Blue Apron in my Facebook feed. Friends were trying it out and posting pictures of delicious looking plates of food. Then, my daughter asked to try cooking meals that were beyond my knowledge so I started looking into it more. I think she wants to be the next Chopped champion and was in heaven when our first Blue Apron box arrived over the weekend.
I was pleasantly surprised to open up the Blue Apron box and find fresh ingredients. There is no middle man like the grocery store, so all ingredients are delivered at their freshest. Nothing was frozen, and everything was ready for chopping, cooking, and devouring. Meats are labeled and packaged individually, everything is portioned out, and all nutrition facts are included. More importantly for me, easy to follow recipes cards accompany each meal!
Not having to figure out a recipe and go shopping are two awesome benefits of Blue Apron. I literally got out pans and utensils, cranked up the kitchen radio, and had a blast cooking with my kids. My 15 year old daughter and I cooked the first meal together, Seared Chicken and Mustard Pan Sauce.
Laughing and chopping together, mashing and stirring together, and making memories in the kitchen. In less than 40 minutes we had great quality time and put a delicious meal on the table with sustainable ingredients. The garlic mashed potatoes were a hit and everyone raved about the chicken. The meat from Blue Apron has no added hormones and uses ranch grass-fed, pasture-raised beef.
There are a couple different options with Blue Apron, depending on the amount of meals you want. The menu of meals if available to view before you order, and I was giving the option at check out to change my meals as well. Meat, sustainably-sourced seafood, and vegetarian dishes are among the options.
- 2-Person Plan: 3 Meals for 2 People
- Blue Apron Family Plan: 2 Meals for 4 People or 4 Meals for 4 People
Our Blue Apron delivery included 2 meals for 4 people, and my son got the honor of cooking the second meal with me. Roasted Pork & Soba Noodles was on the menu and this was the first time any of us had tried Gai Lan. So yummy if you haven’t tried it, and I probably wouldn’t have if it wasn’t in this Blue Apron box. We also found a new love for ginger thanks to this meal!
Blue Apron makes it easy for families to get into the kitchen together, especially if you have tweens and teens. It’s not just about the food, it’s also about learning skills that will last a lifetime.
